Change Management: How to enable successful change

25 Apr 2018 12:00 - 14:00

Venue: London TBC

Speakers: Owen Williams, Global Head of Practices and Markets, Simmons & Simmons LLP together with Beverly Landais, Accredited Executive Coach - FCMI; FCIM; ACC; MICF.

All change requires transition: individual changes require personal transition. Most of us experience a strong response to any change. One of the strongest can be the struggle to accept a new direction. Throughout the firm there will be strong feelings about what has to be given up or altered to embrace the new situation, activity or behaviour.

Each of these transitions has a cost which can impede progress unless managed. It is important to understand that this is a normal part of transition and that there are practical strategies that can help people to learn to let go of the old and embrace the new.

This lunchtime workshop will encourage participants to think about what change management is, and improve awareness of what’s involved in dealing with a change initiative.

It will help individuals gain insight into what facilitates change and help them learn how to deal with the transition process, thus enabling stakeholders to move forward more quickly and effectively.

The workshop is highly interactive with participative exercises that aim to cement the theory of change management into practical take-aways that can be implemented in the workplace.

By the end of this session, each participant will have improved their understanding of change management, and be better equipped to implement the desired change.  Specifically, participants will:

  • understand why organisational change can be so difficult
  • learn about tolerance for ambiguity
  • uncover techniques to build personal resilience
  • discover how to use a model to communicate change
  • practice how to have difficult conversations on issues that can hold up change
  • deal constructively with objections and critical feedback
  • find out more, using relevant examples, about how you can implement change smoothly
