Team Somaliland triumphs in Play 2 Remember Tournament

Team Somaliland, a team lead by Duncan Lewis solicitor Ahmed Aydeed, triumphed in the Play 2 Remember 5-a-side football tournament, held earlier this month in London.

The annual Play 2 Remember tournament is timed to coincide with the 100 days of remembrance for the 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi, as well as the UN International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. Play 2 Remember is organised by Football for Hope, Peace and Unity (FPHU), the PSMG’s chosen charity for 2017. FPHU is overseen by the former goalkeeper of the Rwanda national football team, Eric Eugene Murangwa.

Duncan Lewis Solicitors were heavily represented in this year’s Play 2 Remember tournament. Not only did the firm’s Ahmed Aydeed lead Team Somaliland to victory, two other Duncan Lewis teams took part in the tournament. In the group stage, Duncan Lewis A beat Squad Goals, drew against the semi-professional New London Lionesses and lost against Wilsons FC of Wilsons Solicitors fame. Also in the group stage, Duncan Lewis B lost against Lost Voices, lost against the barristers’ chambersbased Garden Court FC and lost against Team Somaliland.

In the tournament final, Team Somaliland won 5-4 against the Sheffield-based Geremi, Myself and I, after beating their rivals on penalties.
