DAC Beachcroft partners with Big Issue eBikes in Bristol

International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce a new electric bike scheme, in partnership with Big Issue eBikes.

The firm is sponsoring 20 eBikes for exclusive use by DACB colleagues as part of a scheme being run by ShareBike UK in partnership with the Big Issue Group, to create bike-sharing solutions in combination with social impact.

The scheme operates as an employability project for homeless and vulnerably-housed people by recruiting and retraining people who were previously unemployed and supporting them back into work.

DACB’s eBikes will be serviced and maintained by people who are  facing barriers to work in Bristol, through the Big Issue Group.

DACB’s Head of Responsible Business, Lois Duguid, commented, “We are delighted to be supporting this important project to help address homelessness and encourage sustainable travel. Our colleagues in Bristol are already taking part in the city’s annual Cycle September campaign and so we hope that a wide number of them will make use of the scheme.”

The first Big Issue eBikes were rolled out in Bristol in early 2022, with plans to expand nationwide and to provide hundreds of green jobs to under-served communities.

As well as the goal of reducing traffic and cutting pollution in the UK, the Big Issue eBikes scheme will recruit unemployed people from local communities. They will receive retraining along with other support and services, and Big Issue Group has pledged to pay them a Living Wage.
