Ed Fitzgerald runs 2025 London Marathon in support of Cure Parkinsons a condition he is personally experiencing.
10 Apr 2025
I had the huge pleasure of being in the company of Ed FitzGerald at a PSMG LLP breakfast roundtable this morning, and I could not fail to be touched by this man’s quiet and incredible courage and resilience.
For those of you who are not aware of Ed’s story, the following three words are, I am sure, none any of us would wish to hear from the medical profession.
Progressive. Degenerative. Incurable.
Ed heard these three words together for the first time on 4 December 2023. A couple of brain scans and a few weeks later, the neurologist's initial diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease was confirmed. That was a low moment, for sure.
Having always been a very active person - and still marginally the right side of 50 - knowing he had a condition which, over time, could restrict the things he loves doing and which would make living life increasingly difficult, was hard to take.
But then he learned that those very things he loves - running; walking; cycling; swimming; etc - were exactly the things that could help slow progression and mitigate the severity of the symptoms.
Ed also learned there are some wonderful organisations out there doing wonderful things to help people like him, and Cure Parkinson's is one of them.
So, here I am with my begging bowl on behalf of and to support Ed and a really worthwhile cause.
Amazingly, Ed will be running the London Marathon on 27th April and has set up a Just Giving page. Can you please donate?
I know how very generous the professional services sector is in supporting "one of our own", so if you can spare anything at all then please do so via the link below and share amongst your own networks.
Good luck Ed! We will be running with you shoulder to shoulder (albeit mostly from the comfort of our armchairs)
